Our Director, Selina Agyapong, is an experienced Health and Well-being professional with a career dedicated to supporting independence and community resilience within the local government sector. Currently pursuing registration as a UKPHR Public Health Practitioner, Selina applies extensive expertise in social care and preventative health to lead impactful, community-led initiatives.

Our Vision

You Matter was founded in 2024, with a distinct and clear vision. To support the elderly. Our primary goal is to create a robust support system for socially isolated elderly people. We will deliver direct companionship, create pathways for individuals to re-engage with their local community. Moreover, we will provide practical assistance through food banks and shopping services, in order to ensure that vulnerable individuals have consistent access to nutritious food.

Implementing the government's Making Every Contact Count MECC framework is also essential and an integral part of our vision. We will use this to provide holistic 1-1 support, addressing the root causes of isolation and signposting our friends to relevant health and social services.

Part of our vision is also to bring the community together in an effort to befriend the lonely. We will offer meaningful volunteering opportunities to the local people, providing valuable work experience which is meaningful for them, making them a more well-rounded individual, but also helping to strengthen community cohesion and serve our human race better.

Our Team

You Matter is comprised of a team of skilled individuals who have an unwavering goal to execute this community interest project with perfection, in order to best serve the community and give the elderly people of Kent and Medway what they need. To ensure total transparency, we disclose that our Director, Selina Agyapong, also holds a professional role as a Health and Well-being Assessor within a Local Authority Adult Social Care department in a different geographic borough.

To manage this dual role and prevent any conflict of interest, the following protocols are strictly maintained:

  • Geographic Boundary: You Matter Community Project CIC operates exclusively within the Medway area. There is no crossover of services, residents, or funding with the Director’s professional local authority role.

  • Resource Separation: No public sector resources, data, or equipment from the Director’s primary employment are utilised in the operation of this CIC project.

  • Financial Independence: You Matter Community Project CIC is funded solely through independent grants and community donations. We do not seek or accept funding from the Director's employer.

  • Professional Development: This CIC serves as a platform for the Director’s autonomous practice toward UK Public Health Practitioner (UKPHR) registration, ensuring all activities align with national Public Health standards of ethics and conduct.
